Words on Mission

Gen 1:1  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.

Joh 1:1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Gen 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Joh 19:5  So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, “Behold the man!”

Gen 1:31  And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.

Joh 19:30  When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, “It is finished,” and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Joh 19:42  So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.

Joh 20:1  Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early

John 20:19-23  On the evening of that day, the first day of the week, the doors being locked where the disciples were for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said to them, “Peace be with you.”  (20)  When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.  (21)  Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.”  (22)  And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit.  (23)  If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you withhold forgiveness from any, it is withheld.”

1 Corinthians 3:10-15  According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it.  (11)  For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  (12)  Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw–  (13)  each one’s work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done.  (14)  If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward.  (15)  If anyone’s work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

1Co 15:58  Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Philippians 2:9-11  Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,  (10)  so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  (11)  and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Rev 11:15  Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever.”

“”The way of Christian witness is neither the way of quietist withdrawal (remember the triple option), nor the way of Herodian compromise, nor the way of angry militant zeal. It is the way of being in Christ, in the Spirit, in the place where the world is in pain, so that the healing love of God may be brought to bear at that point.” – NT Wright
