Decisions and Petitions
Ps 18:1 – I WILL love You, O Lord, my strength.
Ps 18:3 – I WILL call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised.
Ps 18:49 – I WILL give thanks to You, O Lord, among the Gentiles, and sing praises to Your name.
Ps 19:14 – Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Here in Frankfort, God made us one CORKER of a beautiful day. I mean, He just out-did Himself, and I told Him about it, too, in the assembly tonight. On top of keeping the whole universe running for one more turn of a planet, He gave us a gorgeous blue sky, and as I walked home from work, there was a hawk gliding so close. . . so close. . .
I don’t know if I would have appreciated so fully God’s wonderful creative grace if He hadn’t made it rain, slow steady drizzle, for three days straight before that. So, Father, thank you for preparing me to see You.
We don’t deserve THIS! What a Father we have, that can’t help but give us amazing presents. Who will never stop caring for, polishing, refining, teaching, loving His people.
In Saving Private Ryan, Captain Miller grabs Private Ryan by the webgear and pulls him down to the ground where Miller is dying. Almost inaudibly, Miller growls, “EARN THIS.” You see, Miller’s Rangers paid a dear price, an awful price, to rescue Private Ryan. He didn’t deserve it. He’s just another guy. Grace came to him, and it changed his life.
Grace has come to me, and I know I can never do enough, never fix myself enough, never tell enough people about Jesus, to “EARN THIS.” In the world, that would leave me without hope, because even Private Ryan didn’t earn it; couldn’t earn it. But he spent the rest of his life making himself worthy of it.
Eph 4:1 “Live a life worthy of the calling you have received. . .”
Php 1:27 “Conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.”
Col 1:10 “Live a life worthy of the Lord. . .”
1 Thess 2:12 “Live lives worthy of God. . .”
2 Thess 1:11 “We constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of His calling. . .”
When God gave us His Spirit, He made us worthy. Let us remember what a price was paid, that we might be made worthy, and let us strive to live up to that calling.
HE WHO HAS CALLED US IS FAITHFUL, AND HE WILL DO IT!
in HIS love,
